DAVENPORT, Iowa — Sandra Zeiner woke up early that Wednesday morning. A storm outside was blowing loudly, and Ted, her husband of 35 years, didn’t feel well.
He was seated at the side of the bed when she heard him mutter something about getting a pill. Then he dropped, unconscious. Shocked, she dialed 911 and, with the help of the emergency dispatcher, started chest compressions on her spouse.
The 71-year-old has been dealing with heart issues for several years, but his cardiac arrest on June 23 involved emergency services and a historic heart therapy provided through Genesis Health System.
