VICTORIA, Australia — Seven people have been taken to a hospital after a loose horse jumped over a high fence into a crowd of about 50 spectators during the Grand Annual Steeplechase in Australia.
Banna Strand, without a rider, veered off course and jumped an eight-foot high brush fence into the crowd before galloping away from Warrnambool race track in Victoria.
The most serious injury was to a two-year-old girl, who suffered a fractured collarbone. Four of the injured were discharged after suffering minor injuries. Most of the other injured spectators were treated and released at the hospital.
