HAVERTOWN, Pa. — Officials said a commuter train struck a car that was sitting on the tracks in a Philadelphia suburb, injuring two dozen people.
The Delaware County Times reports that 24 passengers were transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No one was inside the car when it was struck.
A spokeswoman for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority said the collision happened around 4:25 a.m. Thursday on the Norristown High Speed line in suburban Delaware County.
Police said 29-year-old Brian Manning of Haverford was driving home from a local bar when he took a wrong turn and ended up stuck on the tracks.
He was being arraigned on a charge of driving under the influence.
