GUILFORD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Two people were flown and three others taken by ambulance to hospitals Tuesday night after a pickup truck and a sport utility vehicle collided on Lincoln Way East.
Responders were called about 7:15 p.m. to the 1600 block of Lincoln Way East, according to Franklin Fire Company Assistant Chief Steve Himes.
He said two adults who had been riding in the pickup were flown by helicopter with serious injuries, but was not sure which hospital they headed to.
Three occupants of the other vehicle, an SUV, were taken by ambulance to Chambersburg Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Himes said.
He described the collision as “practically head-on.”
By 8:15 p.m., Chambersburg Fire Police were directing traffic as a Nissan Titan pickup truck and a Ford Taurus X SUV were being loaded onto wrecker trucks. A Pennsylvania State Police trooper was seen sweeping crash debris off the road.
Himes was unable to provide any identifying information about the victims of the crash.
Police had not issued a statement about the incident by presstime.
In addition to PSP and Franklin Fire Company, ambulances from West Shore, Fayetteville and Marion responded to the crash, Himes said.
