CARSON, Pa. — Four people, including two children, were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on Interstate 95.

State Police Sgt. Thomas J. Molnar said a 2004 Infiniti driven by Darlene C. Kelly, 38, of Mount Airy, Md., ran off the road on the northbound side of the highway near mile marker 37 just before 4 p.m.

“The driver ran off the road to the left and overcorrected,” he said. “She then ran off the road to the right, striking a tree and overturning.”

All four passengers suffered injuries considered serious but not life-threatening, Molnar said. “Luckily, the four people inside were wearing their seat belts,” he said.

The passengers included Kelly’s sister, Karen L. Williams, 53, of Olney, Md.; Williams’ 8-year-old daughter; and Kelly’s 9-year-old son.

Molnar said Williams’ daughter, the most seriously injured of the group, was taken by Life Evac helicopter to VCU Medical Center in Richmond. The others were taken there by ambulance, he said. Molnar said Kelly has been charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain proper control of a vehicle.
