ASHVILLE, Pa. — Authorities in western Pennsylvania say a teenager was killed and more than a dozen other people were injured when a car being driven by the youth collided with a school bus.
State police say 17-year-old Joseph Stoy of Loretto was driving a car that crossed the center line of Route 53 in Gallitzin Township on Tuesday morning.
Blair County Deputy Coroner Gil Barton says Stoy was pronounced dead at a hospital. Police say he was not wearing a seat belt.
Police say two other teenagers in the car, 10 students from Penn Cambria Middle School who were on the bus and the bus driver were also taken to hospitals. Officials say three people were admitted and 10 students were treated and released.
School district officials say grief counselors will be at Penn Cambia’s middle and high schools on Wednesday.
