NEW YORK — A 49-year-old man died after he headbutted an on-duty EMT, FOX 5 N.Y. reports.
The incident happened on Friday morning when EMS was called to the man’s apartment to help him with injuries he had received in a prior motorcycle crash.
The man refused treatment and the EMS crew struggled to load the man into an ambulance to take him to a hospital, according to the New York Police Department.
During the struggle, the man hit a 33-year-old EMT in the head with his own head. The headbutt had caused the man to receive a head injury, according to the NYPD.
The man was eventually taken to a hospital. As he was receiving medical care, he was taken into custody and later died, the NYPD said.
The investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Force Investigation Division.
