JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Three Jacksonville Firefighters acted quickly in mid-air to help a passenger with a medical emergency on-board a flight from Houston to Las Vegas.
“We were just there, if you would have put any of the thousand plus firefighters from Jacksonville in that plane, you’d be talking to them right now. They would have done the same thing I did,” said Jacksonville Firefighter Jason Kerr during a phone interview Tuesday afternoon.
Kerr took off for Vegas with his groomsmen Tuesday to celebrate his bachelor party. During his second flight of the day, he heard an announcement on the plane asking for any passengers with medical experience. He and two from his group stepped up to help. “What really concerned us was his [passenger] skin color was ash and grey, his lips were blue, or what we call cyanotic, and while we were assessing him we couldn’t actually obtain a regular pulse,” said Kerr.
