Technology Will Allow More Data to Flow In and Out of Ambulances and Enhance Connectivity for Optimal Communications between Dispatch Centers and Field Crews

BROOMFIELD, Colo. - ZOLL Data Systems™ and In Motion Technology jointly announced that ZOLL Data Systems has entered into a non-exclusive partnership with In Motion Technology to seamlessly deliver mobile dispatch and patient data to multiple mobile devices in the field. Realizing the costly endeavor and IT complexities of equipping mobile devices with remote access to mission-critical applications, In Motion Technology has created a gateway that receives wireless signals and clearly transmits a secure mobile local area network to any number of mobile data terminals, laptops, PDAs, and tabletPCs.

The onboard Mobile Gateway (oMG 1000) enables secure, wireless data transfer on any network for many types of computers (MDTs, tabletPCs, medical devices, etc.) simultaneously. The integration between RescueNet™ Nomad, RescueNet TabletPCR, and the patient and billing data transmitted to and from the dispatch center improves dramatically with this new solution.

“Our vision for enabling the flow of mission-critical data to and from the ambulance is further strengthened by the innovative products from In Motion Technology,” said Vane Clayton, President of ZOLL Data Systems. “We are excited about the enhanced capabilities that In Motion Technology’s products bring to our solutions and to our customers.”

In Motion Technology’s oMG 1000 offers a Mobile LAN infrastructure that seamlessly scales to enable multiple applications and devices access to any wireless network. oMG 1000’s open technology enables multi-network support (802.11, 802.16, 1xRTT, EvDO,

Wi/iDEN, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, Flash OFDM, and/or UMTS TDD) all in the same box for a flexible, reliable solution for mobile data operations. Additionally, In Motion Technology transparently provides 128-bit security to all data transmissions to protect confidential patient and billing information.

“Delivering mission-critical data to the EMS field has been hampered by security concerns, total cost of ownership issues, and the reliability of wireless networks,” said Kirk Moir, president and CEO of In Motion Technology. “Realizing that we needed to focus on these concerns of EMS executives, the oMG 1000 delivers a secure and reliable mobile local area network for the seamless connection of multiple devices in the field as needed by the routine activities of EMS personnel.”

ZOLL Data Systems’ RescueNet Nomad will be able to further utilize the integrated GPS receiver in the oMG 1000 and take advantage of the advanced data capabilities to provide better communications between the dispatch center and the ambulance. RescueNet TabletPCR will use the oMG 1000 to transmit electronic patient care reports to the RescueNet server within the wireless range of the ambulance.

The capabilities provided by In Motion Technology’s products open up a number of opportunities to enhance the capabilities of our RescueNet solutions. ZOLL Data Systems and In Motion Technology will be demonstrating their solutions at the upcoming EMS Expo on August 25-27, 2005, in New Orleans.
