Clinton, Miss. — The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) is pleased to announce the affiliation of the Paramedic Association of Canada (PAC) with NAEMT, bringing the total number of NAEMT Affiliates to 38. Founded in 1988, PAC represents paramedic practitioners, dispatchers and other staff across Canada. PAC is the national voice for community paramedicine, and advocates on behalf of their profession and their patients.
“The Paramedic Association of Canada is excited to be affiliated with NAEMT,” said PAC President Chris Hood. “There are many issues of common interest to our organizations, which make working together and learning from each other a perfect next step. We are exploring the possibility of coordinating continuing medical education courses offered by NAEMT. PAC is working on the next version of the National Occupational Competency Profile for paramedic practice in Canada, which may be a good fit for the continuing education programs that NAEMT has developed.”
Affiliation enables NAEMT to work collaboratively with other EMS associations to strengthen the EMS profession as a whole. Affiliation is a formal relationship between NAEMT and an EMS association to benefit their shared purpose and objectives, as well as to address key issues that impact EMS practitioners. NAEMT also provides Affiliates with benefits and services.
“We are pleased that PAC has chosen to affiliate with NAEMT,” said NAEMT President Don Lundy. “We look forward to collaborating with PAC and working with all of our Affiliates to raise awareness of EMS as an essential public function, and one that is critically important to improving patient outcomes and lowering costs.”
