After working as a paramedic, iPCR President Anthony Schwartz wanted to develop a more user-friendly electronic patient-care reporting system. The software increases healthcare coverage throughout communities through streamlined patient care reports. Read more about iPCR’s heavy involvement in charitable organizations and their upcoming iPhone app.

Where did your company name originate from?
For our company name, we wanted to combine iPad and PCR into one simple term: iPCR.

What was the inspiration behind starting your company?
It all started with paramedics searching for a product and not being satisfied with anything on the market. We wanted to offer a more user-friendly product to the responders in the field, so we decided to develop our own.

Why do you believe your products are essential to the EMS community?
Our product was designed for ease of use and implementation. Responders will be able to collect more data and have more legible and accurate reports. Having iPCR in the palm of your hands will increase the unit utilization hours, thus increasing healthcare coverage in your community.

What has been the biggest challenge your company has faced?
The biggest challenge with iPCR would be designing and maintaining an application that provides everything our users need. We continue to provide a product that is quick and easy to use in the high-stress situations our clients face on a daily basis.

What makes your company unique?
iPCR is unique from other companies because it is developed by paramedics, for paramedics. By working in the field, we are able to improve the product based on our own needs and knowledge in the industry. We also have an amazing client base that provides valuable input and feedback.

What do your customers like best about you and your products?
The crews love the ability of having the small, light iPad and the easy to use program. The iPad allows you to take your business further with ease of use, durability, and security. Cloud-based updating, built-in dictation, and built-in wireless all add to the amazing device which powers our iPCR Software. Our customers like our company because our implementation specialists handle your integrations, while the technical support team is here to guide you every step of the way. They also like that we take their feedback and implement it into updates to continue enhancing our product.

What is the most rewarding part of serving the first responder community?
Being able to contribute such a positive change in the EMS industry is very rewarding. We are able to bridge the gap between the EMS community and modern technology.

Do you support any charitable organizations within public safety?
We support many charitable organizations in different communities. The Firefighters Charitable Foundation assists fire victims, supports Volunteer Fire Departments, funds fire safety programs, first aid education and helps children in need. The EMS Foundation, another organization, specifically raises funds to support education, injury prevention, research and equipment. We also contribute to The Leary Firefighters Foundation, whose mission is to provide funding and resources for Fire Departments and maintain the highest level of public safety.

Have any fun facts or trivia?
I’m obsessed with George Washington. I’ve read just about every book out there on him and have about 5 paintings in my office with some scene (it isn’t quite as creepy as it seems).

What’s next for your company? Any upcoming new projects or initiatives?
Our next project will be designed for volunteer firefighters and will be called “Franklin.” (Did you know that Benjamin Franklin is considered to have organized the first volunteer fire company?) Franklin will be a native application on the iPhone and a two-way communication system between Responders and Administration. Alerts will be sent when a responder is needed, and then again when the responder confirms the alert was received. We plan to offer an all-in-one suite of products to make the EMS industry more streamline.
