GONZALES, La. — Gonzales Fire Chief Butch Browning was honored by the Board of Directors of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians for achieving 20 consecutive years as a nationally registered emergency medical technician.

To maintain the status as a nationally registered EMT, Browning completed a comprehensive recertification program and attended a minimum of two hours each month of additional continuing education courses to advance his knowledge on new lifesaving skills.

By maintaining his nationally registered status and completing regular courses, Browning is among the few EMTs with the most training in pre-hospital emergency medical care in the nation.

Browning was nationally registered as a Basic EMT in 1986 and has been serving the City of Gonzales since 2001. Prior to this position Browning, worked for East Baton Rouge Parish as a firefighter.
