Paramedics and EMTs have many different factors to consider when responding to a call: proper assessment, a fast transport, proper documentation. However, responders can get so caught up in the daily grind and the many facets of their job that they can forget simple, fundamental rules. This rule-of-thumb is often overlooked and undervalued: Be nice to others.
That’s it. Be nice to your patient, the patient’s family, the ER doctors and nurses, and your own crew members. The stress of emergency situations can elevate tensions, and being nice may help calm things down.
