Integrated city, county service could speed up response time

The city and county are creating a new push for a combined center that would dispatch Tallahassee firefighters and Leon County paramedics and possibly get residents the help they need faster.
A merged dispatch center could help the Fire Department and ambulance service coordinate their response and send the closest available unit to emergencies. Currently, the city dispatches firefighters, while the county dispatches paramedics.
