HOBART, Ind. — The city’s emergency 911 dispatch center is implementing a new program to prioritize fire and ambulance calls.
Hobart dispatchers, all of whom have completed special training, also will be authorized as of March 8 to give life-saving first-aid instruction over the phone.
“Telephone triage is something that’s used in other parts of the country, but it’s new here,” said Robert Lamprecht, the Hobart Fire Department’s director of emergency medical services.
