EF Johnson Technologies, Inc. Introduces Lightning Control Head for ES Series Mobile Radio

Versatile control head features largest, brightest, clearest display on a land mobile radio

Irving, TX – EF Johnson Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: EFJI) today introduced the Lightning Control Head for its Project 25 compliant ES Series Mobile Radio. The company will demonstrate its new patent pending control head at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) 115th Annual Conference & Exposition November 9-11 at the San Diego Convention Center.

“Public safety users require a mobile radio control head with a large, bright, and readable display,” said Michael Jalbert, president and chief executive officer of EF Johnson Technologies, Inc. “Our new Control Head uses technology found in military applications such as airborne cockpit and ground-based vehicle dashboard instrumentation, windshield heads-up display, military weaponry and communication equipment.” Jalbert added, “This control head continues our long tradition of public safety communications solutions. Our roots in public safety go back nearly 70 years. In 1939, the company developed its first mobile radio system for use by police cars in Minnesota cities.”

Key features of the patent pending Control Head include: dash or remote mount configuration, 320 x 80 pixel display resolution, electroluminescent 3-line text display with 16 alphanumeric characters, 5 soft keys (backlight, display, channel select, scan, and tones). Key features of the ES Series Mobile Radio include: Project 25 trunked and conventional operation, interoperability with SMARTNET®/SmartZone®, Enhanced (AMBE+2) P25 Vocoder, over the air rekeying and over the air reprogramming, and support for up to 864 talkgroups.
