Rockford, MI (April 6, 2009) – Bates® Footwear (Bates), a division of Wolverine World Wide, Inc., has received a $13 million contract to manufacture approximately 165,000 pair of Temperate Weather Combat Boots for the U.S. Army, with two optional one-year contract renewals.
The Army Temperate Weather Combat boot is primarily used by Army soldiers in cold weather environments, including regions such as Afghanistan. The boot features a waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex® membrane and a Vibram® rubber outsole, providing a high level of comfort and durability. Bates has manufactured a similar boot for the U.S. Army since 2003. The U.S. Army Temperate Weather Combat Boots are manufactured with 100% domestic materials at Bates’ facilities in Big Rapids, Michigan and Jonesboro, Arkansas, maintaining the company’s commitment to manufacturing in the United States.
