COVINGTON, Ky. — A camera in the back of a new ambulance will provide added security and allow for quicker investigation of complaints, firefighters say. The Covington Fire Department paid $257,000 for the ambulance it received December.
It is fitted with a camera inside the back of the ambulance and a camera outside on the back of the ambulance that allows the driver to see what’s behind him.
The camera records 160 hours of footage in the back of the ambulance. Medics can face dangerous situations, and issues arise where cameras could provide irrefutable proof, said Covington EMS Director Karl Chalk.
