CHIHUAHUA, Texas — Maybe it was medicinal marijuana?

Mexican authorities said two men were allegedly transporting marijuana inthe false compartment of an ambulance stopped by Mexican federal police on a highway in Chihuahua.

Mexico’s attorney general’s office on Thursday said Ivan Alfredo AcostaAcosta and Ramon Daniel Rojo Nava will remain jailed on a charge oftransportation of marijuana.

The drivers allegedly told police there were to be paid 10,000 pesos (about$830 in U.S. dollars) to take the ambulance to the town of Villa Ahumada onthe pretext of picking up a sick person, officials said.

Federal police stopped the ambulance on a road between Chihuahua City and El Sauz andseized 810 bundles of marijuana weighing about 792 pounds.
