Ariz. doctor accused of hitting medic

Dr. Le Vu told cops he thought the paramedic was trying to talk a patient who was complaining of chest pains out of taking an ambulance to the hospital

SURPRISE, Arizona — A doctor in Arizona was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault after being accused of hitting a paramedic Friday.

The alleged alteration took place at an urgent care center in Surprise when Dr. Le Vu thought the medic was attempting to talk a patient with chest pains out of taking an ambulance to the hospital, according to The Arizona Republic.

The medic claimed he was struck on the arm when Dr. Vu tried to pull him out the room to discuss the patient.

Details have been forwarded to Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, which will determine whether to charge Dr. Vu, the newspaper reported.

The patient was transported to Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center.
