SYDNEY — McDonald’s staff rose to the occasion when one of their young customers stopped breathing for nearly three minutes.
Video shows three employees — James Hatcher, Rachel Whyat and Stephanie Farugia — along with another customer rushing to 14-month-old Nevaeh’s aid, trying to dislodge what appeared to be a chip stuck in her throat, according to 9 News.
“She was going ‘save my baby, she’s choking, she’s not breathing,’” Hatcher described the mother as she rushed her blue-faced child to the front counter. “It just kicked in straight away; that you have to do this.”
Emergency staff gave instructions over the phone to Farugia while they were en route to the scene.
After three minutes, the girl began to breathe on her own. She was taken to the hospital and kept overnight for observation, and it was reported that she suffered from a seizure that prompted her to choke.
