TANNERSVILLE, Pa. — Although one life was lost in an early Sunday morning fire near Camelback, another was saved by the heroic efforts of two Pocono paramedics. The save took some quick thinking, the weight of a fire extinguisher and some muscle.
Paramedic Richard Bengel, 22, of Tannersville, was on a couch listening to Metallica at the Central Pocono Ambulance building on Route 611 in Tannersville.
Sometime after 1:30 a.m., Bengel and his partner, 20-year veteran Margo Warner of Kunkletown, were dispatched by a medical alert activation to a home on Hickory Lane in Jackson Township.
