FALLS CHURCH, Va. — EMS Compass released performance measures in the areas of STEMI and SCA and invited all members of the EMS community to provide comments and feedback.
Comment on the measures, available at EMS Compass, is part of the iterative process to ensure the measures are appropriate for the diversity of EMS services across the country.
“We received a number of very thoughtful and helpful comments on the first measures released last month,” Chair of the EMS Compass Steering Committee Bob Bass, MD, said."The next set of measures are out for public review now while we work through the feedback already received.”
The public comment period for the STEMI and sudden cardiac arrest measures is open until June 3. EMS agencies at the local, regional and state levels are encouraged to evaluate these measures immediately and to provide feedback to EMS Compass on how important these measures will be for improving patient care and outcomes.
Public comments should be submitted through the EMS Compass website. Send specific questions about the measures to EMS Compass Project Manager Nick Nudell.
Between April 15 and May 6, EMS Compass held a public comment period for the stroke, seizure and hypoglycemia measures. During this time, EMS Compass received 70 comments from EMS administrators, ALS providers, advocacy organizations, healthcare providers and more. At press time, the comments were being considered by the EMS Compass Measurement Design Group.
EMS Compass plans on releasing more measures for public comment and testing later this year. To make sure you are notified of opportunities to review, test and provide feedback on the measures and the measurement design and testing process, sign up to receive EMS Compass updates.
