LOS ANGELES — Officials at a Mile A Way Productions announced the theatrical release of their new documentary, “Rapid Response.”

The film dives into the fast-paced motorsports industry, telling the story of medical and safety professionals who refuse to accept the mortality rate of the industry, according to a press release. The documentary is based on the book, “Rapid Response: My Life as a Motorsports Life Saver” by Dr. Stephen Olvey.

The story centers around Olvey who, as a medical student in 1966, gets the opportunity to volunteer with the medical team at the Indianapolis 500. During his experience, he realizes that the medical capabilities at the racetrack are inadequate.

Dr. Terry Trammel, a longtime colleague and friend at Indianapolis Methodist Hospital, joins Olvey and they set out to apply science to bring safety to the sport.

The documentary will feature interviews from driver Mario Andretti, Bobby Unser, Al Unser, Parnelli Jones, Rick Mears and others.
