SPRING, Texas — An EMT had his laptop stolen after a man broke into his car outside the station — and it was all caught on camera.
James Burton left his truck unlocked when he responded to a call after arriving at the station. When he returned, he found footage of a thief spending three minutes rummaging through his vehicle. Burton had previously installed a dash camera in his truck to monitor his son’s driving.
“It shows him coming from across the street with somebody else and gets in my truck,” Burton told KHOU. “He goes through it and eventually leaves with my computer.”
Burton’s EMT kit and his daughter’s softball equipment were also in the vehicle, but the suspect only took the laptop.
Burton, who is attending paramedic school, said the robbery has forced him to borrow a computer to get through school.
“We help everybody. Even if I had to help him today, I would,” Burton said. “But just knowing he didn’t have that respect for me — just to come in my truck and take my stuff, that makes me mad.”
Officials are investigating the break-in.
