NORWICH, Conn. — A family was reunited with the paramedic who helped the mother deliver a healthy baby boy in the back of n an ambulance.
NBC Connecticut reported that paramedic Brittany Leggett and her crew had to carry Marie Rodriguez down three flights of stairs to get her to the ambulance and rush her to the hospital.
“We were trying like heck to make it to the hospital,” Leggett said. “But the baby didn’t want to wait!”
Leggett, who has only been a paramedic for a couple of months, delivered baby Jacob in the ambulance.
“If someone’s calling us, it typically means something’s wrong. It’s not often that we actually get to bring life into this world,” Leggett said.
The EMS crew reunited with the Rodriguez family, including Rodriguez’s daughter Neyshka Cernas, who was in the ambulance at the time of the delivery.
The crew brought presents and flowers for the family, and blue storks were placed on the ambulance to commemorate the birth.
