WASHINGTON — DC Police are investigating a fatal accident that claimed the life of 31-year-old Christina Latrice King in Southeast on Friday.
Police say the accident took place at about 2:35 p.m. when King was driving her 2003 Dodge Caravan along the 1200 block of Southern Ave. and hit the rear of a Honda Accord several times, pushing out of the travel lane.
The van continued moving forward and collided with the rear of a DC Fire Dept. ambulance. The impact caused the van to flip onto its roof and catch fire, police say.
After impact, the ambulance lost control and rear-ended a Toyota Prius, causing it to collide with a Chevrolet Avalanche.
According to police, DC Fire and EMS crews extinguished the van fire but King, of Waldorf, Md., did not show any signs of life.
Five others were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injures.
