It happened in Winnipeg, although it could just as easily have been an episode of the popular television show ER.

On Tuesday night, a marked RCMP cruiser carrying a pregnant officer from the Headingley detachment was involved in a crash at the corner of Broadway and Sherbrook Street.

The officer’s husband, a city paramedic, was one of the first to respond to the collision.

Fortunately, the female officer and her unborn baby weren’t hurt.

The RCMP officer, who is on light duties due to her pregnancy, had developed some health concerns during her shift, and was being taken to St. Boniface Hospital when the collision occurred around 7 p.m.

The police vehicle was eastbound on Broadway and was crossing Sherbrook with its emergency equipment activated when it collided with a northbound Honda.

Both drivers were also treated at hospital and released.
