BOULDER CITY, Nev. — Video shows a teen boy being rescued from fast-moving currents in a flood control channel.
The unidentified male, reportedly a minor, had climbed over a fence to enter the flood channel when a sudden rise in flood water swept him downstream, according to the Boulder City Review.
The boy narrowly missed grabbing onto the first rescuer, but was then grabbed by city Public Works employee Erik Corderman before being pushed further downstream.
City officials said the waters were moving at 17 feet per second with enough force to kill.
Had rescuers failed to save the boy in the next 50 feet, he would have met a sharp drop off with a hard undercurrent and sharp rocks.
