ALEXANDRIA, Va. - More than a thousand people gathered at the Beth El Hebrew Congregation, Thursday, to say goodbye to an Alexandria paramedic who was severely injured while responding to an auto fire.
33-year-old Joshua Weissman fell through a small gap on an I-395 bridge, on February 8th. He died he next day of severe head trauma. A group of bagpipers and drummers from public safety departments in several different states played a mournful dirge, as the fire truck from Alexandria Fire Station #206 brought Josh Weissman’s coffin to the funeral.
Virtually the entire Alexandria Fire Department attended the service thanks to firefighters and paramedics from four nearby Virginia counties who have volunteered to man Alexandria fire stations for a two day period.
