Ross Valley voters face a plan to hike paramedic taxes 30 percent.

Voters will be asked in November to approve a parcel tax that calls for a $9 tax increase in the first year and $3 in subsequent years for Ross Valley Paramedic Authority emergency care services.

The San Anselmo Town Council unanimously approved the move Tuesday.

Residents now pay $30 a year per living unit, and for 1,500 square feet of commercial space.

Under the move, at the end of four years, the tax could not exceed $48.

The tax increase requires a two-thirds vote of approval in November, officials noted.

The Ross Valley Paramedic Authority was formed in 1983 to provide emergency medical services and take sick and injured individuals to local medical facilities.
