OKLAHOMA CITY — State officials are seeking federal help for 20 more counties battered by last month’s snow and ice storms.

The Emergency Management Department asked the federal government Monday to provide public disaster assistance to Alfalfa, Canadian, Comanche, Dewey, Garvin, Grant, Greer, Jackson, Jefferson, Kay, Lincoln, Osage, Pontotoc, Pottawatomie, Rogers, Tillman, Tulsa, Washington, Washita and Woods counties.

Twenty-two counties already are eligible for public assistance.

The Emergency Management Department still is seeking to obtain individual assistance for homes and businesses affected by the winter storms, agency spokeswoman Michelann Ooten said.

“We’re continuing to try to make that case to the federal government,” she said.

The department last week sent damage assessments based on more than 3,000 reports to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Ooten said.
