POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — A 23-year paramedic who slapped a mentally ill patient strapped to a stretcher was suspended for a month Wednesday and demoted to firefighter.
In what Fire Chief Harry Small called “some of the most intense discipline ever given out” by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue, Patricia Bradley will receive no pay for one month after an investigation concluded her conduct was unbecoming a city employee.
“I don’t think she really meant any harm, even though that’s not an excuse, and she’s going to pay for it,” Small said.
