Paramedics warn about 9-1-1 phone scam in Idaho

ADA COUNTY, Idaho — Rescue workers are sounding the alarm about a telephone scam that has targeted at least one local resident.

According to authorities, an elderly Ada County woman received a suspicious phone call Wednesday from a person urging her to sign up for a new program. The caller asked the woman to provide her bank account information over the phone and told her that paying the fee was the only way she could continue getting 911 service.

"[The woman said] the caller was very forceful, saying if she did not provide her bank account and pay us that fee, then we would not respond to her,” said Ada County Paramedics Director Troy Hagen. ...
