YORK, Pa. — Employees at Strine Printing Co. in Manchester Township were evacuated Wednesday morning after a construction worker at the plant needed to be treated for carbon monoxide poisoning.

A Kinsley Construction worker was cutting the floor of a building as part of a project at the plant, said plant manager Chris Strine. The process created carbon monoxide, and a worker began feeling faint, he said.

Emergency crews were called to the printing factory, 30 Grumbacher Road, shortly before 11 a.m. Ambulance personnel assessed the man and determined he had carbon monoxide poisoning, said Union Fire Co. Chief Richard Shank.

Fire officials found, using a meter, that carbon monoxide levels were too high in two parts of the building, he said.

Employees were evacuated as a precaution, he said, but no others showed symptoms of having been affected.

The construction worker, whose condition was not critical, was treated at York Hospital, Shank said.

The affected areas were ventilated, and most employees were able to return to work within about half an hour.
