NASSAU COUNTY, N.Y. — A Long Island medical technician mysteriously died from a disease he may have caught while on the job, officials said yesterday.
Steven Linzer, 45, an employee of Nassau County, died last Wednesday, and police are treating it as a line-of-duty death.
Officials haven’t disclosed the disease that killed Linzer, who lived in Levittown.
The county medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
A county Health Department spokeswoman told Newsday that the agency’s infectious-disease specialists are not investigating.
Linzer’s widow, Irene Linzer, told the paper he was a “very caring and loving person. He was a very family-oriented person.”
