NEW YORK — A New York City EMT has been arrested for allegedly fondling a patient he was treating, according to CBS 2.

David Taranto is accused of groping a female patient in the back of an ambulance last month, the report said. The patient was being transported from the scene of an accident on Staten Island to a hospital.

Law enforcement sources told CBS 2 that Taranto put a stethoscope under the patient’s blouse and squeezed her breast.

The patient also said that Taranto stayed with her in the ambulance for three hours despite her lack of serious injuries. He also put her number in her cell phone and called her for three days until she called the police, according to the report.

Taranto, who has been an EMT for seven years, was suspended for 30 days without pay. If convicted, he faces three months in jail and the loss of his EMT license.
