DRACUT, Mass. — Hoping to save some money on 911 dispatch services, Dracut and Tyngsboro officials are also looking for a better deal for ambulance services.

Patriot Ambulance, PrideStar EMS and Trinity Ambulance all made pitches to Dracut selectmen Tuesday night in a bid to win the three-year ambulance contract for Dracut and Tyngsboro.

Town Manager Dennis Piendak said this is the first time in nine years that Dracut and Tyngsboro, which jointly contract ambulance services, have opened the process up to bids. Piendak and Tyngsboro Town Manager Michael Gilleberto have the ultimate say over which ambulance company is picked.

Currently, Patriot Ambulance handles the towns’ emergency medical calls, but that contract expires June 30, according to Piendak.

Piendak said the town decided to seek competing bids because he believes the winning ambulance company could provide funding for dispatch services to the town.
