PENSACOLA, Fla. — An emergency medical technician was in stable condition at Baptist Hospital late Friday after being shot by a man who had tapped him on the back as he straightened up his ambulance.
“He turned around, and he was shot,” Escambia County sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Chris Welborn said. “There was no provocation that we’re aware of.”
The EMT was in his ambulance at the Emergency Medical Services station shortly after 9 p.m. at West Hayes and G streets, near Escambia County Jail, and his partner was inside the building, Welborn said.
