LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. — A 42-year-old paramedic from Poudre Valley Hospital died early Thursday morning on his way home from work.
His wife, also a paramedic, was one of the first people to respond to the scene.
Brian Gould was driving a 2004 Dodge pickup shortly after 6:30 a.m. when it crossed into oncoming traffic on U.S. 287, about two miles north of Colo. 14, and collided head-on with a semitrailer.
The driver of the semi-truck, Timothy Beardslee, 42, of Ofallen, Mo., was not injured.
Gould was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Colorado State Patrol troopers. His wife, Jennifer Stackler-Gould, responded and according to a spokesman at the hospital, she was unaware the victim was her husband.
Mountain News Net, a statewide law enforcement bulletin, sent a notification about the crash, saying Gould was one of the bulletin’s founding dispatchers.
“Please take a moment to remember Brian in your thoughts and prayers,” the bulletin said.
Colo. 287 was closed in both directions for approximately four hours for investigation.
