A 26-year-old Omaha woman was injured Monday night when the car she was driving collided with an ambulance at Hamilton Street and Military Avenue, police said.

Mia Harris was taken to Creighton University Medical Center. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The ambulance driver suffered a sore knee, police said. A paramedic apparently was not injured.

The ambulance was headed out on a call with its flashing lights and sirens on when the collision occurred about 10:50 p.m., Officer David Bowes said. The ambulance had been traveling south on Military and had stopped at a flashing red light at the intersection with Hamilton, Bowes said. The ambulance started to go east on Hamilton when it collided with a westbound Dodge Intrepid driven by Harris, the officer said.

Harris had a flashing yellow light at the intersection but did not have the car’s lights on, Bowes said. She was not using a seat belt, he said.

The city prosecutor will review the crash to determine whether any tickets will be issued.

Another ambulance went ahead to the first ambulance’s call.
