ABUJA, Nigeria — A plane crash in Nigeria’s capital killed 96 people and left nine survivors, the airline said Monday.
The Boeing 737 was carrying 100 passengers and five crew when it plunged to the ground shortly after takeoff Sunday, said Aviation Development Co., a private Nigerian airline. The nine survivors were hospitalized, the airline said, releasing the flight manifest.
Investigators found one of two black boxes from the aircraft. There was no word on the cause.
It was Nigeria’s third major jet crash in less than a year.
