CONTRA COSTA, Calif. — Six children were injured Friday night when a sports utility vehicle veered off Vasco Road, crashed into a dirt embankment and rolled over, authorities said.
At 10:25 p.m., the driver of a 1998 Toyota SUV made an unsafe turn while traveling north and crashed about 1.8 miles north of the Contra Costa and Alameda County border, according to the CHP.
Two of the seven passengers were ejected from the vehicle, including a 12-year-old boy who had major injuries to his arm. Both were rushed by helicopter to Children’s Hospital Oakland.
The four remaining children were transported by ambulance to Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch. All were boys ages 11 or 12.
The driver, a 33-year-old Oakley man, was not injured.
