KING CITY, Calif. — At least two people were killed and 15 injured in a multi-car accident on Highway 101 just north of King City late Wednesday, the California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire said.
The collision occurred near Jolon Road about 8:45p.m. and involved eight vehicles, Cal Fire said. Debris stretched about 100yards along the highway.
Three of the injured were taken by air ambulance to area hospitals, four were taken by ground ambulance, and eight refused medical transport, Cal Fire said. Four people had to be extricated from their vehicles.
The highway was closed in both directions for about an hour and a half. The southbound lanes were reopened just before 11 p.m.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
Rescuers from multiple fire and police agencies responded.
