LANHAM, Md. — A man who D.C. police say exchanged gunfire with officers Wednesday is dead after a city ambulance was shut down while he was being taken to a hospital.
Tim Wilson, spokesman for the DC Fire and EMS Department, says the engine light went on as the suspect was being transported from the scene, Barnaby Street in Southeast, via I-295.
The operator shut the vehicle down and called another unit to finish transporting the man, who has since been identified by police as 34-year-old Nathaniel McRae, to an area hospital.
