2 airlifted after ambulance, SUV collision

The driver of the SUV and a person in the ambulance were both flown to hospitals; severity of injuries is unknown

BATH, N.Y. — Two were airlifted to local hospitals after a head-on collision between an ambulance and SUV.

The driver of a Jeep Compass was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital in Pennsylvania. A person in the ambulance was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, The Leader reports.

The driver of the Finger Lakes Ambulance vehicle was transported to the nearby Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital.

The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on State Route 54. The severity of injuries was not immediately available, Bath State Station Commander Eric Hadlock said. No charges have been filed and the incident is under investigation.

“We’re still trying to put things together,” Hadlock said.
