TAVERNIER, Fla. — An air ambulance burst into flames as it was landing for a rescue, according to officials.
Local 10 reported that the helicopter was on its way to a high school when it caught fire, according to Monroe County spokeswoman Cammy Clark said.
The patient was transported to the hospital and later airlifted by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a different hospital.
The helicopter, which is the oldest in the county’s fleet, was substantially damaged.
No injuries were reported in the fire, which is currently under investigation.
