HIGH POINT, N.C. — A car driven by a 16-year-old went airborne after striking another vehicle and smashed into a vacant house in the western part of the city.

The teenager was driving in the 1300 block of English Road about 9:50 p.m. Friday when the car went off the right side of the road near the intersection with Barker Avenue, went up an embankment, hit a parked vehicle and then went into the air and hit the side of the house, the High Point Police Department said.

The car ended up off the ground, with about half the vehicle inside the house.

No one was injured.

The juvenile was charged with failure to maintain lane control and reckless driving, police said.

The gender of the driver wasn’t released by police.

The wreck caused about $40,000 worth of damage, Deputy Chief Brian Evans of the High Point Fire Department said. The house is salvageable, he said.
