MELBOURNE, Australia — A man was found covered in blood and apparently left for dead after being stabbed in Melbourne this morning, a paramedic said.

The man, believed to be about 25, was found lying on the side of a road near the Clifton Hill Hotel in the city’s inner-north, just before 6am today (AEST).

“He was in a bad way, disorientated, cold,” the paramedic, who did not want his name published, said.

“He’d been out there for a long time, for at least three hours, maybe more in a cold night.

“He was very confused, hypothermic, disorientated, not in a good condition at all.”

The man had several stab wounds to the upper body and chest area and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he’s in a critical condition.

It was not initially known when the man was attacked.

Police were this morning on the scene and are investigating the incident.
