Calif. man who tried to kill paramedics found mentally competent

Rammed pickup into their ambulance outside of ED in February

COTTONWOOD, Calif. — A Cottonwood man accused of trying to kill two paramedics and an emergency medical technician by ramming his pickup into their ambulance outside Mercy Medical Center in February was found today to be mentally competent to stand trial.

Criminal proceedings were reinstated by Superior Court Judge James Ruggiero against Joel Michael Haller, 26, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, including three felony counts of attempted murder.
